Fresh flowers for the frames that need them, silk for anything a child will touch
Palettes from soft blush and cream through to deep jewel tones
A moss and petal floor bed for newborn work
Trailing ivy and eucalyptus for depth at the edges of frame
Soft, high, diffused light — florals photograph badly under hard sources

What to wear

Tonal dressing — one or two shades away from the flowers, never matching them exactly
Lace, cotton and linen; nothing synthetic, which reads shiny under diffusion
Flower crowns sized properly, so they sit rather than slip
Cream, blush, sage or dusty blue for parents in frame
Maternity: flowing gowns in a single tone, so the florals carry the colour

What we would tell you about this set

Fresh flowers photograph better than silk and last about four hours in Chennai heat, which is why we build fresh only where the camera is close enough to tell the difference. Everything within a child's reach is silk — a baby will put a petal in their mouth within ninety seconds of being put down, and we would rather that petal were washable.

Are the flowers real?+

Both. Fresh flowers are used where the camera is close enough to tell the difference, and silk everywhere a child can reach. Fresh flowers photograph better and last about four hours in Chennai heat, which is why the build is planned around where the camera will actually be.

Can this set be used for a maternity shoot?+

Yes, and it is one of our most-booked maternity sets. The arch works particularly well for full-length frames. Flowing gowns in a single tone work best, so the florals carry the colour rather than competing with a patterned dress.

What if my child has hay fever or allergies?+

Tell us on the enquiry and we build the set entirely in silk. It is a slightly different look under close inspection and completely indistinguishable at normal viewing distance, which is a far better trade than a session spent sneezing.
