Family Portrait Photography
Most families have no decent photograph with everybody in it. There is a wedding album from a decade ago and four thousand phone pictures where somebody is always the one holding the camera. A family session fixes that in about an hour. We shoot in studio when you want something formal, at home when you want the room the children actually grew up in, and outdoors when you want light and space. Grandparents included, and encouraged.
Ways to book this
- Studio family session — 60 to 90 minutes
- At-home lifestyle session — natural light, minimal setup
- Outdoor session — golden hour at a Chennai park or the coast
- Extended family gathering — larger groups, on location
In the session
Everything that comes as standard with a family portraits booking — not a list of optional extras.

What is delivered, and in what form. Full personal-use rights on every image.
What we would tell you on the first call
Book the session with the grandparents in it now rather than next year. That is the least comfortable sentence in this entire file and it is the truest one — the portraits families come back and ask us to reprint are almost always the ones with an elder in them, and almost every one of those was booked at the last possible moment. On clothing: coordinate the palette, do not match the outfits. Matching families photograph like a uniformed team.
Family Portraits — Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear for a family session?+
Coordinate the palette, do not match the outfits. Two or three complementary tones across the group photographs beautifully; everyone in identical white shirts photographs like a uniformed team. We talk this through before the session and are happy to look at photographs of what you are considering.
Should we include grandparents?+
Yes, and sooner rather than later. The portraits families come back and ask us to reprint are almost always the ones with an elder in them, and almost every one of those was booked at the last possible moment. It is the least comfortable advice on this page and the most consistently true.
Studio, home or outdoors?+
Studio for something formal with controlled light. At home when you want the rooms the children actually grew up in, which ages into something quite different in twenty years. Outdoors for light and space, shot at golden hour. All three work; they simply produce different photographs.
We have elderly relatives and small children. Can they manage a session?+
Yes — the session is paced for whoever needs it most. We bring seating into frame where standing for an hour is not realistic, shoot the full group first while everyone is fresh, and let people step out as needed. Nobody is asked to stand around waiting.
Do you photograph every combination or just the big group?+
Every combination, systematically — the whole group, each couple, each pairing, grandparents with grandchildren. Delivered as part of the standard gallery rather than as an add-on. It takes an extra fifteen minutes on the day and it is the part families are most grateful for.
Can we bring our dog?+
Yes, and we will photograph them properly rather than tolerating their presence. Tell us in advance so we can plan the pacing — dogs and toddlers in the same frame need a slightly different approach.
